Anita Saarkessian
Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian/American media critic who is also a popular public speech writer. Feminist Frequency was established by Sarkeesian. It hosts video clips which include commentary on gender representations in popular culture. Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian-American media critic and blog writer that has received awards for her work, is a feminist blogger. Feminist Frequency is a non-profit educational website which investigates representations of women in the popular media narratives. The challenge of destroying stereotypes regarding women is the main goals of her work. However, Sarkeesian also explores the issue of targeted harassment against women online as well as other communities that are left out. Sarkeesian who has an MA in Political and Social Thought from York University, is a sought after public speaker. She has delivered speeches at the TEDxWomen festival as well as United Nations Broadband Working Group for Gender. When she was a student at the university, Sarkeesian became concerned about issues related to gender identity and women's rights at an early stage. She had a plan to start an internet-based program that would examine gender representation in games, but was the target of an online campaign to harass her. However, the attacks did not dissuade her. She was only able to strengthen her position in her role as a feminist journalist. Her notable contributions to the field of feminists are recognized with numerous prizes. Anita Sarkeesian was a multi-award winner for her work as a media journalist. She was also the creator and director of Feminist Frequency a nonprofit educational organisation that studies pop culture gender representations.
